Street Names for Meth

Methamphetamine goes by many nicknames or street names. One of the earliest street names was “crank.” The market for illegal methamphetamine was once dominated by motorcycle gangs, and this nickname got its start from an early method of transporting the drug. Gang members would sometimes hide meth in the crankcase of their motorcycle, so the drug came to be called “crank.”

Today there are dozens of street names for the drug, including ice, chalk, go-fast, zip, tweak, and cristy. In fact, street names for meth can differ from region to region. The names can also vary based on the type of methamphetamine that is being described
