National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Friday, April 28, 2017

Tomorrow, Saturday April 29th, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Law enforcement agencies will be collecting unneeded prescription medications as well as over-the-counter products. This service provides a safe, environmentally-friendly way for you to clean out your medicine cabinet. It also helps in the battle against the epidemic of opioid addiction, by getting those powerful drugs out of circulation when they are no longer needed.

Check here to see if an event has been scheduled in your area. Additional events taking place in North Carolina can also be found here. Some communities now have year-round drop boxes where prescription and over-the-counter medications can be placed for safe disposal. Check here to see if there is a drop box in your area.

Prescription Drug Take-Back events take place with assistance from the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Safe Kids North Carolina’s Operation Medicine Drop, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
