Consumer Protection
The Consumer Protection Division works to protect the public from unfair and deceptive business practices. Consumers who've been the victim of a fraud or scam can file a complaint with our office and we will try to resolve the situation through mediation.
In cases where there is a pattern of illegal business practices, the Consumer Protection Division may take legal action to enforce the law on behalf of the public. The office cannot, however, represent individuals in their private legal disputes.
The Consumer Protection Division also works to educate consumers so that
they can avoid problems from the start. Consumers can contact our office for
assistance on a wide range of consumer topics, from automobiles to work-at-home
schemes and everything in between.
