Victims & Citizens Services

Attorney General Roy Cooper is committed to protecting the rights of victims of crime and abuse. That is why he established the Victims and Citizens Services Section to give citizens a voice in the Department of Justice.

Victims and Citizens Services provides direct assistance to the people of North Carolina through a variety of innovative programs. We are here to educate citizens about our justice system. We also help develop policy and legislation, provide crime prevention programs, connect citizens with community resources, and work with other agencies to coordinate Department of Justice services for citizens.
Though the Attorney General's Office is prohibited by statute from advising or representing private individuals, we can serve as a link to agencies and organizations so that citizens can find the help they need.
